AJS510F

The Grooved joint method is simpler and faster than welding in the field.
To alleviate the stress of the pipe, use a combination of fixed and flowable joints as shown in the figure to change the direction of the pipe or to secure the pipe.

  • Grooved joint Flexible type
  • Joint material: Spherical graphite cast iron (ASTM A536, GCD450)
  • Gasket material: EPDM
  • Bolt/nut material: Carbon steel for mechanical structure
  • Painting: Epoxy powder painting

The Grooved joint method is simpler and faster than welding in the field.
To alleviate the stress of the pipe, use a combination of fixed and flowable joints as shown in the figure to change the direction of the pipe or to fix the pipe.

The AJS510F model is a standard flexible joint for use in a variety of general piping applications.  It can handle misalignment, distortion, thermal stress, vibration and noise, has the flexibility to withstand seismic vibration, and can design a curved layout. All model AJ510F coupling consists of two identical flexible iron housing segments, an EPDM rubber gasket and plated track bolts and nuts.

Joint bolt pads must always be installed so that metal and metal come into contact.

Options: Grade "E" EPDM (color code: green stripe) Good for cold and hot water up to +230°F (+ll0°C).
Good for services to water with acid, water with chlorine or chloramine, deionized water, seawater and wastewater, dilute acid, oil-free air, and many chemicals.
Maximum temperature range not recommended for petroleum oil, mineral oil, solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons: -30°F (-34°C) to +230°F (+ll0°C)*.
*EPDM seats for water service are not recommended for steam service unless valves or components are frequently replaced.
Other options: Grade T - Nitrile Grade "O" - Fluoroelastomer Grade "L" - Silicon

All size AJS510F coupling approved by UL and FM * The working pressure is based on standard wall carbon steel pipes with roll grooves. Allowable axial displacement and angular movement (biased) values are for standard steel pipes with roll grooves. The value of a pipe with cut grooves is twice that of a pipe with roll grooves. This value is the maximum value. For design and installation purposes, it should be reduced by at least 50% for ¾"/DN20 - 37/2"/DN90 and by at least 25% for 4"/DNLOO and be larger to supplement the work site conditions ** The given deflection or angular motion is the maximum value allowed by the coupling. When using the maximum angle given for the curve placement, an appropriate bracing must be used to counter the pressure thrust produced when the system is pressurized Flexible coupling can be used for angle movement and thermal expansion, but individual coupling is not available It is used at the maximum for both types of movement within the system at the same time.

Bolt nuts: CS
for mechanical structures Carbon manganese steel track bolts heat treated with ASTM A449-83a (or A183 Gr.2), minimum tensile strength 110,000 psi (758 MPa). Connecting Hex Nut to ASTM A563
